When sketching the Seabiscuit, we were drawn to the story of the legendary 1930s racehorse. He was a knobby-kneed underdog who captured the heart of a nation through pure grit and an unstoppable will to win. We designed this pattern to capture that exact spiritācomplete with rugged equestrian-style harness straps and heavy saddle stitching. It is designed to work hard, go the distance, and only get better with time.

Required Skills:
This project is best suited for leatherworkers with beginner and intermediate skills. You should be familiar with fundamental leatherwork tools (chisels/awl, stitching needles, cutters, edge bevelers). A cutter, round hole punch, hand stitching needles, rubber mallet and cutting pad. No sewing machine required ā all our bags are hand stitched.
Each pattern page clearly states the difficulty level ā Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced. We recommend starting with a Beginner pattern if you are new to leatherwork. For Advanced patterns, prior experience with at least 2-3 bag projects is recommended.
Each pattern includes a full materials list with leather thickness, weight in ounces, and quantity needed. We recommend vegetable tanned leather for best results. Specific recommendations are included in every pattern.
