Leather Shoulder Holster Bag Pattern (PDF + DXF + Video)

Make your own leather shoulder holster bag: a hands-free bag with pockets that hang at your sides. Everything you need is in one download: a printable pattern, a laser-ready file and a step-by-step video.

What you'll make

A leather shoulder holster bag with two flap pockets, two zipper pockets and adjustable straps. It carries your everyday essentials close to your body and keeps your hands free.

This is an everyday-carry bag. It is not designed to carry firearms.

What fits: The zipper pockets hold any current phone, a passport or a slim wallet. The two flap pockets are slimmer: Pocket One fits a passport, a small notebook, cards and keys, or a smaller phone (up to about 5.8" tall) without a thick case. Pocket Two is best for cards, a pen and a few keys.

What's in your download

  • PDF pattern in US Letter, A4 and A0 sizes. Print at home on regular paper, or take the A0 file to a print shop for a full-size copy. Includes a test square to check your print size.
  • DXF file (optional). This is a file for laser cutters and other digital cutting machines. You do not need it to make the bag.
  • Video tutorial that shows the whole build, start to finish. Watch it on your computer, tablet or phone, and pause or replay any step.
  • Materials, hardware and tools list so you can order everything before you start.

You'll get your download link right after purchase.

Skill level: Intermediate

This is not a first project. You should be comfortable with hand stitching, installing zippers, finishing edges and setting hardware. If you are new to leatherwork, start with one of our beginner patterns first, then come back to this one.

Finished size

Part Tall Wide Deep
Pocket One 5.9" (15 cm) 5.5" (14 cm) 0.6" (1.5 cm)
Pocket Two 5.9" (15 cm) 3" (7.5 cm) 0.6" (1.5 cm)
Zipper pockets 7.5" (19 cm) on the short side, up to 11.8" (30 cm) at the tallest point 6.9" (17.5 cm)

Pocket sizes are inside measurements. The height of the zipper pockets follows the shape of the pocket.

Stitch hole spacing

The distance between holes is 5 mm (0.2"). Choose stitching tools with the same spacing so your stitches match the pattern.
